Dairy Free Hemp Lime Cream

This dairy free hemp lime cream is a great tangy topper for vegetables, burgers, chili or even your favorite salad. It's vegan and gluten free and full of great nutritional benefits.

We're talking about hemp today. Not cannabis hemp. We're talking about hemp seeds, the uber healthy powerhouse.

Hemp seeds, which are actually a nut, have that ideal omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acid balance that can be so difficult to find. The high gamma-linolenic acid helps to balance hormones and the fiber content contributes to some good colon cleansing too.

One of the things that I like best about hemp seeds is the large amount of quality protein they contain. Then there's the bonus levels of potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium and a whole range of vitamins. So it's great for digestion, cancer prevention, joint pain, weight loss and heart health. What's not to like?

Hemp seeds have a nutty, mild flavor. You can throw them as is on top of a salad or add it to your morning smoothie for a nutritional boost. You can also blend them, making a dairy free hemp lime cream with many uses. Whether you eat dairy or not, this is a great vegan alternative to top a burger like my spicy black bean patties or my quinoa spinach cakes. You could also put this hemp cream on top of chili or add a little more water to use it as a salad dressing. I use it in place of sour cream or yogurt.

If you don't eat nuts, you can omit the pine nuts and double your hemp seeds for a nut-free sauce. Add some herbs and other spices if you like. There's lots of options with this healthy cream-less creamy condiment.
