Los Angeles Asian Restaurants
/ Kelly PageAsian food covers a lot of cuisine. You have your Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese just to name a few. I've been eating delicacies from most of these places while traveling throughout Southeast Asia this month. To play along at home, I've reviewed some of the dim sum spots I like in Los Angeles and talked a little about Thai cooking and cooking with seaweed. Next week I'll touch on Koreanfood and the booming K-town scene in LA.
There are so many great restaurants in LA, preparing such a wide range of Asian cuisine from high end Japanese kaiseiki at one my of my favorite restaurants in LA, N/Naka, to Asian style tacos and fast casual dishes at Komodo. Here are just a few to choose from in Los Angeles that cover a range of Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese cooking.
Komodo Cafe now has 2 locations, along with their original food truck, serving up creative taco combinations with an Asian flair at a good price.
Culver City has a new restaurant serving unique, well done, Vietnamese food, called East Borough.
Thai lovers rejoice. Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica finally has a worthy Thai restaurant with Sadtha, and don't even worry that it's plant based and vegan. Instead, simply be happy that it's all organic and they don't use any GMOs.
Manhattan Beach's Little Sister serves Southeastern Asian food in a hip, but loud setting.
Sang Yoon's Vietnamese restaurant in Culver City pumps out sweet and sticky fare. Just be sure to manage your order so you get a variety of tastes.
Shunji's minimalist setting on Pico in Santa Monica is not indicative of the fresh, unique fish that is being served as this no frills locale.
N/Naka is a spectacular dining experience if you're willing to give yourself over to the 13 course tasting menu that will likely take 4 hours to consume. This is a place where you want to make the time.
While people may not have found Shiki Beverly Hills yet, it's only a matter of time until others realize the quality of dishes from the former alum of Matsuhisa and Asanebo.
