The Missing Piece To Overall Good Health
/What to do when you’re eating well and exercising but still not feeling good. This can be the missing link to creating overall strong health.
My diet is pretty well dialed in, though by no means perfect. I know what to eat to make my body feel good but that doesn’t mean there are times when french fries and chips just hit the spot!
I love doing yoga, walking, hiking, and playing tennis and volleyball, so exercise isn’t much of a burden to me.
I continually work on my mindset through meditation and self awareness practices. That’s something I need to pay attention to regularly because left unattended, my mind ventures places I don’t find helpful!
Food, movement, and mindset.
Those are 3 of the biggest pillars of health I work on and help my clients with as well.
The Missing Piece to Overall Good Health
But there’s another piece that can feed into all of these and help elevate all aspects of your life.
Any guesses?
Joy!
Do you have joy in your life?
Do you know where to find joy?
Do you know how to create it?
If not, ask yourself a few more questions.
What lights you up?
What are you passionate about?
What puts a smile on your face?
What makes you lose track of time?
Finding Joy
Travel is one of my greatest passions in life.
I love to travel overseas.
I did after all, quit my job in the middle of being offered a big promotion so I could move to Paris and see the world.
Joy. Balance. Awe. Curiosity. Quiet. Peace. Adventure.
These are just a few emotions I experience when I travel.
But there are times when I simply can’t travel, so what then?
Practicing Joy
I try to find similar feelings I get when traveling, but closer to home by doing day trips, new hikes, and mini-explorations. I get pieces here and there.
But there’s nothing like substantial time away, immersed in another country and culture.
When I travel, I’m grateful for so many things.
For the beauty.
The privilege to travel.
The ability to witness different life.
And the reconnection to myself and my center.
Not only that, but it gets me out of some of the negative emotions that can crop up when I’m not doing what I love.
Sometimes changing your environment can help you change your mindset. It allows you to see things through a different lens and a broader perspective.
Make Time To Reflect
If you’re not feeling the joy you once did, think about what moves you.
What do you lose all track of time doing?
If you had unlimited money, what would you spend it on?
And if you’re unsure, try a few things. Experiment. Play.
And when you find something that stirs your soul, do more of that.
Make time for it. Schedule it. Make sure it’s a regular part of your life.
Because finding AND practicing what brings you joy is one of the cornerstones of healthy living.
