Snacking. We all do it. Should we?
Putting my Nutrition Coach hat on, I'll tell you that it's ideal to eat all of your nutrients at mealtime. If your meal is properly balanced with good fats, clean protein, and filling fiber, you shouldn't be hungry between meals.
Not only that, but your digestion needs time to do its thing between meals.
Now putting my human living in a busy world hat on, I'll say that sometimes the above scenario doesn't work and hence the need for some healthy snacks. If I'm traveling or between grocery runs, breakfast and lunch can sometimes only fill me up for 2-3 hours. I definitely need to reach for a healthy snack then.
So I have 30 healthy snack recipes that will help you fight off hunger between meals or when traveling. They will also keep your kids happy after school without loading them up with sugar. I have a show and tell above of some of my favorites in real-time.
When you don't have time for cooking, I also have some healthy store-bought snack ideas that will help tide you over between meals. Happy snacking!

And then there are the days when there's simply no time to cook.
That's when these healthy, clean eating snack products come in handy.
They're all gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free with vegan and paleo options.
If you're trying to lose weight, just be mindful of the number of nuts and different snacks you're eating since the calories can quickly add up, healthy or not.
Nuts and Seeds
Raw Organic Nuts – Almond, Cashew, Walnut, Macadamia nuts (peanuts are a legume and should be avoided on a paleo diet)
Brazil nuts – 4 per day has been shown to help people maintain proper selenium levels
Barukas - I've just discovered these supernuts. They have over 3 times the amount of antioxidants of most popular nuts with 25% fewer calories, while packing in 6 grams of protein
Organic Nut or Seed Butter with celery. I always have a supply of SunButter in the house.
I like the seed variety and quality from Go Raw. They sprout their seeds for easier digestion and have interesting crackers and bars with different types of ingredients. Great for travel.
Healthy Chips and Crackers
If you need to have a chip, and who doesn't love snacking on something crunchy and salty, the Bare line is a good option. Like the name suggests, it's pretty bare ingredients. The banana chips are just bananas and the apple chips are apples. They bake them as well for a healthy snack.
In the healthy chip-ish category, I also like Nud's banana crisps. They're organic, paleo, vegan, gluten free raw snacks with a few simple ingredients and a little natural sweetness.
Crackers – you can try some of the paleo crackers on the market like Jilz, Simple Mills, and Julian Bakery, but if you have an almond allergy like me, you either need to make your own like my Carrot Pulp Cumin Crackers or Kale Rosemary Superseed Crackers, or buy some like Mary's Gone Crackers Super Seed or Hu grain-free crackers.
Seaweed snacks are certainly healthier than potato chips!
